PIONEERS (3 - 4 years)
Our Pioneers room is home to our pre-schoolers aged three-four years old and is the final stage in a child’s journey at Your Montessori. Having developed their self-confidence and independence in Explorers and Voyagers, we continue to progress these attributes in a fun and nurturing classroom environment.
How Do We Get Children Ready For Primary School?
Our Pioneers room is about getting our children school ready. We have "golden rules", such as how to treat their friends and how to look after their resources, to embed lifelong values which will help them excel at school
Our Pioneers help set up for mealtimes, they serve themselves food and they clear up afterwards. All skills which are welcomed not just by primary schools but also parents at home!
We continue with the development of writing skills and start teaching phonics, so our children are firmly exceeding expectations by the time they start school. We want to send all our children off on the right foot, having gained initial knowledge which can then be used as a stepping stone into primary school.
In our Voyagers room, our parents complete weekend diaries and the children take it in turns to take home Monty the class pet teddy bear. Both of these initiatives mean children have plenty to talk about and share their experiences with their friends and teachers during circle time.
As with our other rooms, we offer extracurricular activities, such as Spanish, Street Dance, Yoga and Little Kickers, which are run by external teachers who come into the nursery each week.
