HEALTHY MEALS AND NUTRITION
At Your Montessori Pre-school and Day Nursery in Iver Heath, we understand how important a child’s relationship with food is from the very beginning — starting from the moment they begin their weaning journey.
Healthy eating plays a vital role in a child’s development, which is why we place a strong emphasis on fresh, nutritious, homemade meals and helping children develop positive and confident attitudes towards food.
Our goal is to help children develop a healthy, confident relationship with food that lasts a lifetime.
Parents in Iver Heath, Iver, Langley and the surrounding areas often tell us they value our commitment to:
-
Fresh homemade meals
-
Healthy eating habits
-
Positive mealtime experiences
-
Encouraging independence

High Standards and Trusted Nutrition Guidance
We are proud to work in partnership with the British Nutrition Foundation to support the highest standards of early years nutrition.
Our chef has completed the Early Years Nutrition Matters training programme, and our menus follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidance on nutrition.
This ensures that children in our nursery receive balanced meals that support healthy growth, development and energy throughout the day.
Fresh, Homemade Meals Every Day
All meals and snacks at Your Montessori are freshly prepared on site by our dedicated in-house chef.
We receive deliveries of fresh ingredients twice a week and cook everything daily to ensure children enjoy wholesome, nutritious meals made from quality ingredients.
Our dining experience is something we are incredibly proud of. It plays an important role in supporting children’s health, wellbeing and early food education.

Menus, Allergies and Dietary Requirements
We follow a four-week rotating menu, thoughtfully designed to provide children with a wide variety of nutritious, balanced meals. Vegetarian options are available every day and we proudly embrace our dedicated Meat Free Mondays alongside our fully vegetarian Veggie Wednesdays, encouraging children to enjoy a diverse, plant-rich diet.
Our nursery carefully caters for all dietary requirements, allergies, and individual preferences, ensuring every child can safely and confidently enjoy their meals.
All members of our team are fully allergen-trained, and we take food safety extremely seriously.
To keep mealtimes exciting and in tune with the seasons, our menus are refreshed twice a year. Every dish is freshly prepared from scratch, with no added salt or refined sugar.
From Garden to Plate
One of the ways we make food exciting for children is through our garden-to-plate approach.
Children help grow fruit, herbs and vegetables in our nursery garden and regularly take part in cooking activities.
This allows them to see the full journey of food from growing to eating, helping them develop a positive and curious relationship with healthy foods.
There is nothing more exciting for children than picking their own fruit or vegetables and enjoying them at snack time.

Building Independence Through Mealtimes
At Your Montessori, mealtimes are about much more than eating — they are an opportunity for children to build independence, confidence and social skills.
In our Voyagers and Pioneers rooms, children eat together at the table, making mealtimes sociable and enjoyable.
Children are encouraged to:
-
Serve themselves food
-
Feed themselves independently
-
Help prepare simple snacks
All under careful supervision from our experienced practitioners.
This approach builds confidence and practical life skills, which are highly valued by parents and primary schools alike.

Encouraging Children to Try New Foods
We gently encourage children to explore new flavours and ingredients through initiatives such as “Food of the Fortnight”, which introduces foods children may not normally choose.
These fun activities help children become more adventurous eaters while learning about nutrition and healthy choices.
We also enjoy sharing recipes with parents and always welcome feedback when refreshing our menus.
